Job summary

The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust Estates Department are recruiting Estates Maintenance Worker to join our team and to deliver a range of planned work.

To work within the Estates Department to ensure Buildings, Plant and Equipment provide a safe environment for Patients, Staff and Visitors.

You will need to provide an excellent level of customer care , communication and flexibility when completing work which supports the Trusts Clinical services and patient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry out repairs, minor planned installations and maintenance work on a wide range of Equipment, Services, Buildings and Plant.

Appendix 1 provides details of typical duties for the post holder.

The post holder will ensure all reports and documentation are completed in compliance with the Departments Workforce Planning Portfolios and Quality system.

The post holder will comply with Safe Systems of work as operated by the Estates Department, together with Statutory Regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH etc.

Job responsibilities

Use relevant tools and test equipment. Assist maintenance craftsmen and technicians as necessary. Utilise Estates documentation to ensure effective and economic issue of spares/materials from Estates Stores. You must ensure that all works you carry out comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all current legislation and/or guidance. The Trusts Risk Assessment pack has been provided to ensure safe working practices. All safety PPE equipment is available and must be used where required. You must work within the Departments evolving 1SO9001: 2000 Quality System framework. You are to ensure that check lists/advice notes are utilised to comply with the requirements of ISO9001: 2000.

APPENDIX 1

Replacement of defective light bulbs identified on bulb round sheets and/or ad-hoc basis. Cleaning of light fittings, shades / diffusers. Clean internal and external areas of ventilation plants in accordance with relevant advice notes and Health & Safety guidance. Carry out internal cleaning to plantrooms, workshops etc. as per relevant advice notes. Carry out internal cleaning to sanitary ware fittings and remove blockages to manholes and gullies in accordance with relevant advice notes. Inspect and clean mechanical extract/input fans/evaporator fans and grills in accordance with relevant advice notes. Inspect and clean split package units in accordance with relevant advice notes, does not include mobile air conditioning units. Inspect and clean roof guttering in accordance with relevant advice note. Identify and record utility meter readings in accordance with relevant advice note. Inspect and replace as necessary plastic stacking chairs in accordance with relevant advice note. Carry out ward/dept weekly flushing, drench shower flushing in accordance with relevant advice notes. Carry out inspection and testing to nurse call handsets in accordance with relevant advice note . Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to grease traps in accordance with relevant advice notes. Carry out external and internal light inspections in accordance with relevant advice note. To assist with the release of passengers trapped in lifts. Undertake re-location of goods and or personnel on a site cross-site basis using Trust vehicles. You will be required to work in patient areas and to work off stepladders, extension ladders, scaffolding, powered lifting equipment, utilising safety equipment man as required. Use relevant tools and test equipment. Assist maintenance craftsmen and technicians as necessary. Utilise Estates documentation to ensure effective and economic issue of spares/materials from Estates Stores. You must ensure that all works you carry out comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and all current legislation and/or guidance.
