Job summary

The Directorate of Neurosciences forms part of the Head & Neck Group along with the , Oral & Dental and Ophthalmology services.

The Directorate of Neurosciences is one of the busiest and most varied Directorates in the Trust and patients travel from across the region and country to be treated here. Neurosciences comprises of neurology, neurosurgery, neurorehabilitation, neuro-psychotherapy, neurophysiology, stereotactic radiosurgery and TIA/stroke services.

Along with the other Service Co-ordinators, the post holder will co-ordinate administrative services within Neurology and support and assist the clinical service teams in the delivery of performance metrics. Other duties will be to support the improvement of processes and procedures to ensure that we are delivering the best possible care to patients and a brilliant working environment for our staff.

The post-holder will be a key member of the Service Co-ordinator team and will need to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with admin & clerical staff as well as senior medical and nursing colleagues to facilitate effective, integrated clinical care.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 9 Months ( Until April 2025) . The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

Main duties of the job

Assist the Operational Manager and Service Manager in co-ordinating relevant aspects of the Directorate's activity thoroughly, efficiently and to a high standard.Oversee and deliver the effective management of the relevant administrative team(s) including appraisals, sickness and performance ownership for instilling robust and efficient administrative processes.Support and promote staff wellbeing by modelling compassionate, fair and reliable leadership.Establish professional and productive relationships with the clinical as a first point of contact for managers and cliniciansAssist the Operational Manager in supporting consultants and their teams, specialist nurses, AHPs, patients and service users whilst keeping up-to-date with the changing needs of the clinical services in accordance with Trust policies and Directorate resources are used effectively and conjunction with the Operational Manager, devise, develop and maintain effective systems for the management of clinical activity.Integrate seamlessly with the other Service Co-ordinators to offer mutual peer support and deliver collaborative play a key role in the Directorate's drive to deliver effective services through patient pathway re-design and promoting best work collaboratively with the Directorate management to ensure that all relevant targets and key performance indicators are consistently delivered.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

Degree in a relevant subject, or, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge, training and experience that would equate to degree level

Desirable

qualification(s) Relevant accredited management qualification(s) ILM, or similar, qualification RSA typing qualification

Experience

Essential

Working in an NHS Hospital Staff management and supervisory experience Knowledge and experience of hospital administration procedures Administration of out-patient clinics and elective surgery Provided training Demonstrable track record working with healthcare targets such as the 18-week RTTP and Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) Evidence of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of professionals ("the MDT") and service users/customers Experience communicating directly with patients, carers &relatives, both face-to-face and over the 'phone

Desirable

Experience working within the Head & Neck Care Group Experience planning healthcare services Proven experience of effectively using management information to manage capacity and demand and produce reports to analyse and share data. Experience delivering Cancer Waiting Time (CWT) targets Previous CWT tracking and MDT co-ordination experience Experience using Lorenzo and InfoFlex Experience using databases ( MS Access) to manage information as well as share and analyse data Comprehensive understanding of procedures and policies for using and maintaining the above databases Experience of undertaking audits and co-ordinating patient surveys. Experience investigating incidents reported on the Datix on-line system
