Job summary

The Haematology Department has a vacancy for a fixed term full time Administrator based at Watford General Hospital. Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative service to the Consultants (including locum doctors), Junior Doctor's, Clinical Nurse Specialist and multi-disciplinary teams. The post covers bookings and co-ordination of Haematology appointments including 2WW, administration for the department's governance meetings (includes minute taking), co-ordinating and updating Doctor's rota's, and general admin duties.

The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education, and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.

This is an opportunity to work in a fascinating specialty with a friendly team

Main duties of the job

This role is based at Watford. The successful candidate will act as a central point for the managing and scheduling of Haematology appointments including 2WW's and general admin duties. They will also co-ordinate the departments Governance meetings, which will include the minute taking.

To deal with telephone enquiries from GPs, patients, and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner to ensure that appropriate messages are passed onto the relevant people in a timely fashion.

To communicate highly sensitive information to patients / consultants. To ensure and maintain the efficient and effective administration for Haematology appointments and general clinic Cancelling and amending clinic lists following instruction from the Clinicians, Clinical Nurse Specialist and managers 2WW bookings Department Governance admin General admin duties Working alongside the bookings administrator

Person Specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential

GCSE education or equivalent. Good passes in Maths and English

Desirable

Audio typing Expertise in specific software such as spreadsheets. Advanced computer/word processing. Working knowledge of MS Office and databases

Knowledge

Essential

Computer literate Good understanding of the administrative functioning of the office

Desirable

Knowledge of Medical Terminology Knowledge of speciality Knowledge of managing a referral system like ERS
