We thrive on creating optimal solutions for complex and ever-changing challenges, and we’re currently seeking a Customs Manager to join us

The primary purpose of this exciting new role is to ensure the high quality and compliance of Lidl’s customs activity. Leveraging your extensive customs knowledge, you’ll contribute to compliance processes and safeguard Lidl from compliance risk. As a specialist in customs classification of goods and compliance, you’ll also manage a team of experts. Your input as a team player and customs professional will directly impact our operations, stores, and millions of customers.

In Customs, no two days are the same, as a Customs Manager, you will constantly be bringing clarity to new and interesting regulatory challenges. You’ll also be developing and coaching a great team to manage the continuously changing customs landscape.

What you'll do

Managing a team of specialist’s day to day including delegation and workload managementTraining and coaching members of the customs classification and audit team Overseeing the process of customs classification and audit team to ensure goods are imported and processed correctly according to trade regulations.Advising on customs classification procedures and post-clearance audits outcomesBuilding import data reports and dashboardsChecking, reviewing, and analysing customs classification and audit data to identify trends, areas of concern and improvement opportunities. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and advising on customs classification and audit related issues

What you'll need

Strong knowledge and experience in the field of customs classification (e.g., HS codes, GIRs, import controls)Detailed knowledge and experience working with customs import data, and post-clearance audits. Level 4+ Diploma in International Trade, or other applicable customs and trade certifications and diploma, preferred.Strong knowledge and experience of the UK/EU customs legislation and import process and requirements. Excise knowledge desirable for the role Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to manage and develop a teamAnalytical mind-set with the ability to analyse large data sets and build dashboardsAdvanced user of Microsoft ExcelExcellent organisational skills with the ability to use their own initiativeHighly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detailAbility to accommodate last minute requests with ease and efficiency.
