Job summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded a national contract to develop one of five dedicated NIHR Patient Recruitment Centres (PRC) in Exeter aimed at high throughput, late phase commercial clinical trials. This high profile prestigious initiative is designed to support the UK Life Sciences Industry; these dedicated centres will become focal points for enrolling members of the public into cutting edge late phase commercial contract research studies and trials improving the speed and consistency of delivery. The five PRCs will operate in a franchise model working closely with each other and the National Institute for Health Research national and local research networks.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Research Nurse who has recent relevant clinical experience in the acute or community setting to be part of the PRC team.

You will gain experience in helping to complete the set-up of this new venture including implementing novel patient recruitment initiatives as well as experience in coordinating and helping to deliver clinical trials across a range of specialties supporting Urgent Public Health research including vaccine trials. You will support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice guidelines and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.

If you are interested in being at the cutting edge of developing new treatments, you should consider joining the NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre Exeter based at the Royal Devon University Hospitals Wonford site. This exciting initiative sees five centres across the UK collaborate to deliver late phase commercial clinical trials at pace and volume.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with recent relevant clinical experience in either the Hospital or community setting to be part of the PRC team. Due to our current portfolio we would be particularly interested in a practitioner who has recent experience in Cardiology or Paediatrics, however this is not essential.

The role will involve helping to coordinate and deliver clinical trials across a range of specialties, and supporting Urgent Public Health research including vaccine trials. If you are a curious practitioner who enjoys a challenge and exploring new ways of working we would love to hear from you.

The post-holder will work with the Research team to plan, implement, organise and manage concurrent research projects. You will develop networks with Multidisciplinary Teams across the Trust and other appropriate local and national agencies. You will coordinate and manage the relevant study portfolio and deliver recruitment accrual in line with performance and monitoring objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials. You will ensure that all research procedures are conducted according to study protocols and will be accountable for the recruitment, data collection and care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience.

Working Pattern: hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 but there will be some flexibility required as the Unit endeavour to provide a flexible service for the patients, therefore, there maybe a requirement to work evenings or weekends on occasions
