This position acts as the Management Representative for Contracting Management Systems
The role holder reports to the Managing Director Contracting and has authority for the implementation and development of the Management Systems.
With a strong focus on continuous improvement and business excellence the holder must actively promote best practice. The role requires excellent communication skills and will provide leadership, direction and management for all key compliance issues including but not limited to, Health and Safety, Environmental Management, and compliance with legal duties The holder will work closely with the Technical and Business Improvement manager on wider compliance and business improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in working with our main customer - National Highways, and to that end will be expected to work closely with NH staff and be involved in working groups around the subject's expertise.
Key accountabilities
In this section you will need to identify the most significant responsibilities of the role.
- Authority and responsibility for ensuring that the requirements of applicable management standards and any additional customer specified Quality Management System requirements or other relevant standards are being implemented and maintained. Specifically these include:
- BS EN ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- ISO 45003
- Liaison with all departments, customers, sub-contractors on ESG and management system matters
- Development of 'best of breed' standards and processes across the entire business, and leadership of association implementation
- Control of internal audits of the Management Systems
- Audits of supplier/sub-contractors Management Systems where required
- Drafting and controlling distribution of relevant IMS procedures
- Determining the principal causes for non-conformances and recommending the necessary corrective and preventative action
- Reporting to the Directors and Senior Managers regarding the effectiveness and scope of the Management Systems
- Development and implementation of the company environmental management systems
- Monitoring legislation and regulations regarding environmental issues and advising the company of the effects on the companies operations
- Maintenance of records of training and qualifications of employees
- Implementation of company training programme and liaison with management to determine future needs and requirements
- Development of appropriate internal performance measures in conjunction with others and identification of appropriate comparison or benchmark data, including but not limited to KPI dashboards
- Perform any business improvement projects as necessary including working with and liaising with customers, delivery partners, supply chain and any other who can help with new initiatives and ideas to keep contracting at the forefront of our industry
- Business continuity, and support bids for new works, including evidence and wider business initiatives to help secure new and targeted works
- Identify and contribute towards awards and accreditations
Social
- Work with Social Value teams to develop and record strategy and results around contracting social value projects
- Work with learning and development team around the strategy and employment of graduates, apprentices and new starters within contracting
Education/Qualification
- A university degree or equivalent vocational qualification (e.g. HND etc);
- Minimum of 5 years experience in management systems
- Delivery and implementation of systems and processes internally
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of management systems standards
