  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee adherence to all relevant legislation and company policies concerning operational activities.

  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with logistics and commercial teams to ensure that customers are supplied from the most cost-effective sources.

To effectively manage the day-to-day operations outlined above, the role also encompasses several broader responsibilities, including:

  • Strategic Business Planning: Develop a comprehensive five-year operational plan that aligns with the national business strategy, collaborating with various business functions (sales, distribution, capital expenditure, safety, health, and environmental management).
  • Resource Management: Ensure the operational management team is sufficiently staffed and that personnel receive appropriate training and development. Ensure necessary assets are in place to achieve business objectives and facilitate personnel advancement within the organization.
  • Production Optimization: Ensure production and productivity are maximized to meet sales forecasts.
  • Capital Investment: Assess, prepare, and submit proposals for capital investment projects.
  • Leadership: Provide direction to the area team, ensuring operational goals and expectations are clearly communicated and that personnel development is prioritized.
  • Operational Control: Implement effective operational control mechanisms covering all relevant aspects, including health and safety, environmental controls, capital expenditure management, and revenue expenditure controls.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the operations team, ensuring that improvement targets are understood and new project initiatives are consistently generated.
  • Global Key Performance Indicators: Ensure data is provided to generate Heidelberg Cement's Global KPIs and utilize benchmarking data to inform capital expenditure decisions or enhance site management practices.
