The Role – Chief Operating Officer

This is a role that involves interaction and influence at all levels across the firm, carrying significant authority. The relationship with the Executive Team will be key: they will expect gravitas, insight, and commercial contribution, coupled with the drive and impetus to keep the firm’s plans moving on apace. The Executive Team will collaborate with the COO to agree on the various options for change and to implement decisions expeditiously and with conviction.

As the COO, leading the department you will handle a range of work and responsibilities including:

Assisting and collaborating with the Managing Partner to define the three-year growth plan, translating the strategy into business plans as well as actionable goals, and ensure their implementation in collaboration with the Executive Team, Heads of Department and Heads of Office.

Lead the Business Services supporting Slater Heelis with direct line management of Management and Operations and indirect management of the central functions, supporting the firm locally or from the centre.

Maintain day-to-day operational and financial oversight of the operations and of the legal practice

Provide reporting and insight on the performance of the business to the appropriate areas

With authority delegated by the Managing partner, take ongoing decisions on people, finance, and operations required to ensure the smooth delivery of services

 Support the drive for growth of the firm as well as the success of the overall group.

Creating an enabling working environment and positive culture. Leading and motivating teams to increase performance and results. At all times and in conjunction with central functions, ensure the company operates in compliance with regulators

Reporting the performance of the business to The Executive Committee and other senior key stakeholders.
