Applications are invited for Trust Grade Dentist vacancies in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester, with posts available commencing immediately and in September 2024 for a period of 12 months.

As a Trust Grade Dentist you will work together with Dental Core Trainees, under the supervision of Consultants, to provide in-patient and out-patient care to patients in the Maxillofacial Unit. You will gain experience in the management of minor oral surgery, maxillofacial and dento-alveolar trauma, head and neck cancer, skin cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgical disease, orthognathic surgery, salivary gland surgery. There are also opportunities to take part in the Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry services.

Main duties of the job

Your role will include the following:

Assisting in main theatre and day surgery for maxillofacial and oral surgical cases Undertaking minor oral surgery lists (with supervision) Managing patients attending the A&E Department with dental and maxillofacial emergency problems Undertaking out-patient clinics Taking part in the 1:6 24 hour on-call service Taking an active part in the weekly teaching programme Undertaking an audit project

Ideally you will be a motivated and enthusiastic dentist with a desire to broaden your experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and be part of a team delivering high quality services.

Job responsibilities

This job is a 12 month post working as a Trust Grade Dentist, at the level of Dental Core Trainee 1 or 2, in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The post is based at St Richards Hospital Chichester, part of the University Hospitals Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with travel to the other sites at Worthing and Shoreham. The Trust provides a free shuttle bus between the sites.

The post holder may be able to apply for DCT equivalence, subjective to Deanery approval and the regulations in the following link.
