Role responsibilities

The Bus Network Planning Manager will provide support and direction in the development, design and mobilisation of the Welsh bus network by working with public and private sector partners to deliver improved bus networks across Wales as part of the move towards a franchised bus network.

Review and develop existing bus timetables from across Wales by using demand and punctuality data, combined with local and regional priorities to support the bus franchising responsibilities of Transport for Wales (TfW) Develop and design of a range of network projects related to both the bridge to franchise networks and future franchised networks through project management to support Local Authorities in developing their local bus networks through expert advice and network planning skills. Manage and lead project teams by collaborating with internal colleagues, external contractors, stakeholders, and supply chain to ensure projects meet delivery outcomes. Identify and monitor project risks that may impact Transport for Wales (TfW), including financial, reputational, quality, environmental and health and safety by collaborating with the appropriate TfW risk professionals and managing risk register(s) to ensure TfW can implement effective mitigations.

Who we’re looking for

Relevant degree such as Business, Planning, Engineering (or similar) or equivalent experience. Possess or working towards a project management qualification, . APM, PRINCE 2 or similar. Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Transport Network Engineer or role in bus operating / transport company / local authority transport department. An understanding of the bus sector, including operations, funding and legal frameworks.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
