Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold 24 hour responsibility for the nurse staffing of the paediatric unit

They will provide nurse leadership and management in order to maintain standards of care and quality of experience for children and young people within the unit

The post holder will continue to develop services provide governance assurance including audit, incident management, complaints , risks, safety and quality initiatives

The post holder will be flexible with their hours to provide support as needed and this may include evenings, nights and weekends

Job responsibilities

The post holder will also be expected to provide cover arrangements for the ward and the Matron

Communicating effectively and working collaboratively with clinical colleagues and external agencies to ensure the delivery of a coordinated, multidisciplinary and multi-agency service

Assisting the Divisional Director of Nursing / Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing/ Matron in the planning, delivering, evaluation and development of the service for which they are responsible

We are a general Paediatric unit that consists of 24 beds including 3 High Dependency beds, we have a children's assessment unit, children's clinic, specialist d

Person Specification

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

Registered Paediatric Nurse / Children's Nurse First level degree Leadership qualification

Desirable

Masters degree, working towards a Masters Degree or equivalent experience in specialist field. Management qualification.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

Substantial registration and clinical experience working with children in an acute paediatric setting at band 6 level. Evidence of management of clinical governance areas - risks, incidents, complaints, standards. Evidence of continuing professional development Roster management Experience of Safeguarding issues in connection with children and young people. Evidence of managing and improving patient experience

Desirable

Experience in undertaking research/audit. Experience of dealing with staff issues - sickness, poor performance, investigations Experience in budget/resource management. Conducting service reviews/implementing change processes.
