Job summary

We are keen to have a psychologist join us at Band 8a, or atBand 7 on a preceptorship, in the county-wide service for people withdifficulties associated with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder inLeicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.

This post attracts a Welcome Bonus. This comprises of an initial payment of £1,800 pro rata to hours worked, payable with your first salary, a further payment of £1,800 pro rata to hours worked after 12 months service and final payment of £1,400 pro rata to hours worked after 18 months service. Qualifying criteria and Scheme Rules do apply, including a minimum tenure in post of 24 months to avoid any repayment. Full details are available on request.

Recent investment in psychological services has supported usto build a substantial service structure with psychologists in lead roles. We have psychologists as pathway leads forcomplex trauma, psychosis and personality disorders who are supported bypsychologists at every grade. There are clear career paths forpsychologists who join us and we are committed to your development throughtraining and supervision.

We support our psychologists to employ the full range oftheir skills, and to divide their time accordingly. You will be able toparticipate in teaching, training, research, service development, supervision,team supervision, reflective practice and direct clinical work for individualsand groups. Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to join the pathway for people withdifficulties associated with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder as wecontinue to develop our offer of psychological therapies and psychologically-informed approaches using trauma informed care principles.

You will be in aservice with over 30 staff, where you will work with the ConsultantPsychologist, Principal Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists,Assistant Psychologists, Medical Psychotherapist, Peer Support Workers, and MentalHealth Practitioners to help our population through direct and indirectinterventions, delivering individual and group interventions and throughsupervision, training and consultation.

We have practitioners in the service experienced in Mentalization-BasedTherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Structured Clinical Management,Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, trauma approaches and in delivering integrativepsychological approaches.

You will have the opportunity to enhance the breath of yourpsychological skills through a variety of supervision opportunities andcontinued professional development. There will be theopportunity for further development through internal and external trainingprogrammes.

We have strong linksto the University of Leicester and you can be involved in teaching, traineeplacements, and input to the development of the curriculum. The network of Psychologists across LPT range of services meet regularly.

Qualifications

Essential

Doctoral level of knowledge of Clinical Psychology including knowledge of Lifespan Developmental Psychology, models of psychopathology, psychometrics and neuropsychology as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and two or more distinct psychological therapies to at least practitioner level.

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in a clinically orientated multi-disciplinary and multi-agency Adult Mental Health setting, which has included treatment for people with difficulties associated with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder. Experience of highly specialist risk and psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings: inpatient, residential and community which has included for people with difficulties associated with a diagnosis of Personality Disorder. Experience of conducting group work with adults.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Skills in providing consultation to other staff groups outside applied psychology services. Awareness of cultural and other diversity issues.
