Job summary

This is anexciting opportunity to work with the Cystic Fibrosis MDT. The post holder will be replacing the psychologist who set up the psychological provision for patients with CF in the area and has created a valued service. The role will also involve setting up a new service offering some support to the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) team, for one session a week.

We arelooking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical psychologist to joinour well-established and rapidly growing Department of Medical Psychology. The department is friendly,supportive, and flexible. The team includes clinical, health and counselling psychologists, trainees, assistants,and excellent admin/clerical support. We place great emphasis on supervisionand personal development, which is possible through working within a psychologydepartment. We meet regularly for case presentations, clinical governance, andbusiness meetings. We also have a monthly peer group meeting and regulartime-out to enable reflection and service development. We have a team base atLeicester General Hospital, although the role will involve work at Glenfield Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working closely with the CF MDT, providing annual reviews for patients, alongside offering psychological assessment and intervention. The role will be predominantly working with outpatients, although it will involve some work with inpatients. Alongside this there will be the development of some input to the PCD team, potentially offering MDT case discussions and consultation, assessments, signposting and one to one work.

The role may also include staff training, support and supervision, as well as working closely with the medical teams. We would also encourage the successful candidate to work closely with other members of the medical psychology department where possible, including in the development of cross diagnostic groups.
