This opportunity is open to graduate psychologists holdinga degree in Psychology (2:2 minimum requirement) this qualification will fillan identified skills gap between assistant psychologists and qualified clinicalpsychologists. They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support,working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registeredclinical psychologist.

CAP apprentices will be working alongside qualifiedClinical, Forensic, Counselling Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists aspart of the psychological services contribution to the locality multidisciplinarycommunity teams across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Clinical basesfor this programme will be discussed at interview.

We are looking to recruit 1 CAP to work within our Adultlearning disabilities service. Posts in the CAPs are trained to work withspecific populations and therefore provide a more prescribed range ofactivities than Clinical Psychologists. They will be a valued addition to ourmulti-disciplinary community teams within the service.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Associate in Psychology role is a newpsychology career pathway in its own right , therefore the selection processwill aim to recruit those suitable for and committed to training for this role,rather than those who might be seeking interim experience to support theirapplications for Clinical or Counselling doctoral training.

As this opportunity isoffered as an Apprenticeship all training costs are paid for by the employer.

This new role will make a positive impact on enhancing the current workforce provision serving the mental health needs of the nation. The CAPs are a flexible workforce, competent in the planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based psychological interventions.

CAPs on successful completion of the apprenticeshipprogramme will continue in the same teamas a B and 6 Clinical AssociatePsychologist.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have acommitment to working in the local region, from those with diverse backgroundsand from people who bring lived experience relevant to mental health work.

We are expecting a high number of applicants for thesepositions and the advert will therefore close when we have a sufficient numberof candidates.

Job responsibilities

Working in partnership with Nottingham TrentUniversity, this apprenticeship leads to Master Level qualification over 18months. As an apprenticeship you will be employed full time by the Trust andyour time will be split between 2 days a week of academic teaching/study and 3days in clinical practice. Nottingham University will be offering the remote and face to face teaching.

There will be an expectation for a minimalnumber of days teaching at Nottingham Trent University over the 18 month period, soapplicants must be willing to travel to undertake this teaching. Travelcosts will be covered by the employer. Job offers to successful candidates willbe conditional on completing the application process for the CAP Masters courseat Nottingham Trent (NTU), by the deadline for applications 1st August 2024 The masterscourse will commence in September 2024.

An honours degree (or equivalent) in Psychology at or better OR Successful completion of a BPS accredited post-graduate Psychology conversion programme with equivalent or above OR A honours degree (or equivalent) in Psychology with appropriate additional experience (or contextual information) demonstrating academic potential. Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered membership of the British Psychological Society.

Experience

Paid or voluntary experience relevant to working in health, mental health and/or psychological service settings, including work in community groups. Experience of working in a setting with children/young people presenting with mental health difficulties Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team Experience of audit and/or service evaluation
