Job overview

The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative Physiotherapist to join our Acute Neurosciences Therapy group. The Specialty Physiotherapist post will work collaboratively with the dynamic multi-professional team on the -bedded Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to deliver early high-quality specialist assessments and rehabilitation. They will manage a clinical caseload of highly complex neurosurgical and neuro-medical patients.

They will be responsible for supervising and teaching Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and Physiotherapy students and initiating and participating in audit, quality improvement and evidence-based projects.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, safe and effective Physiotherapy services, as part of an effective multi- professional team, to patients requiring acute neuroscience care.

To work collaboratively with patients and their carers to effectively assess, goal plan and treat patients following admission to hospital and strive to maximise their independence and quality of life.

To supervise and teach recently qualified Physiotherapists, support workers and Physiotherapy students.

To actively participate in quality improvement, clinical audit, and research projects to improve the delivery of quality, evidence-based rehabilitation.

To take an active part in the team’s extended hours and seven-day working roster to maximise the access and delivery of acute neurological rehabilitation.
