Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner Post graduate qualification – mentorship Minimum 5 years’ experience within the role of Operating Rooms Practitioner Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse Demonstrated experience managing teams Competence in delivering a high level of peri-operative care Good computer and numeracy skills A high level of communication skills within all disciplines and grades. Flexibility in response to needs of the department Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to patients and Consultants Good team working skills

What are the Responsibilities of this Orthopaedic Scrub Lead role?

To Assist the Theatre Management team in the efficient utilisation of all resources with specific attention on Theatre utilisation and staffing. Leadership and support for the Theatre team Assisting with staff recruitment, training, development and appraisals. Report the failure or mechanical problems of any items of equipment in line with Hospital Policy. Exhibit a high level of Perioperative care in line with best practice as well as professional and national standards and hospital procedures and acting as a role model for the team. Maintains current and up to date clinical knowledge and ensures best practice is followed by the team. Exhibiting a high level of teamwork with the Operating Suite and in the wider hospital environment. Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the Theatre Department, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives. Participate in the education, training and development of staff as well as maintain accurate records of their training and skills matrix.
