About Us
The Centre for Climate Repair (CCR), based in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), is a multi-disciplinary hub that brings together various departments with the goal to repair the climate through the 3Rs - Reduction of carbon emissions, Removal of greenhouse gases and Refreezing the Arctic. We support PhD studentships and internships in several University departments and are overseen by a University Board as well as an External Research Advisory Board in respect to our research and field trials. Although the Centre is based in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, the Centre for Climate Repair also has strong ties with the Department of Engineering, based in Trumpington Street, therefore some travel to this site will be required.
CCR consists of a small, dedicated team: in addition to this role, the core team overall currently consists of 9 people, several of whom are part-time, plus external contributors. We also have Associates linked to the Centre who may have studentships funded by CCR or who we consult on in their field of expertise. A full list of our team, Post-Docs, PhD Students, Associates and Partners can be found on our website at
The Role
Our team is growing rapidly and we are seeking to recruit a PA/Administrative Assistant to help the growing needs of the Centre. The post is an interesting and varied job allowing you to work closely with the Centre Directors, providing PA support, as well as administrative support to the Centre and the Programme Coordinator. This will include multiple diaries and inboxes management, assisting with events organisation, taking minutes and general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the Centre. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to develop many areas of their work and should enjoy the opportunity to work on their own initiative.
The post is available as either a Part-Time (0.8FTE) or Full Time (1FTE) post, depending on the requirements of the post-holder. We also welcome applications for flexible working arrangements.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 December 2025 in the first instance and may be extended subject to the availability of funding.
About You
The successful applicant will have excellent organisational and communication skills and be flexible and adaptable to the requirements of the team. We are a small team so we will be seeking an individual who is willing to work effectively with other team members and have a positive attitude. The role holder must be able to demonstrate knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts related to PA/Administrative work. Excellent and accurate written English, the ability to prioritise workload across multiple tasks and to meet deadlines together with a high level of attention to detail, are also essential. The postholder will be responsible with the ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy, recognising when a matter being handled is confidential.
Informal inquiries or requests to arrange a site visit and find out more information may be directed to Natalie Selwood at .
The closing date for applications is 1 September 2024.
Interviews will take place as soon as possible following the closing date.
The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society. We particularly welcome applications from women and /or candidates from a BAME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our Department.
