This is an opportunity for role in the new Quality, Safety and Improvement directorate of the NHS Wales Executive, to be part of our team at a busy and exciting time as we step-up our support to help NHS Wales improve care for the people of Wales.

Improvement Cymru is a core part of this directorate. Together, we work alongside organisations to empower, embed and elevate improvements to quality and safety, delivering all-Wales improvement programmes to achieve quality and safety priorities. Our work is described in our Improvement Cymru strategy published in 2021.

We are recruiting to 1x full time secondment post based in Cardiff. The secondment is until 01/04/25.

This post offers an opportunity to be part of Improvement Cymru at a busy and exciting time as we:

Work with the NHS Wales to progress our programme of Safe Care Together

Support our Safe Care Collaborative in partnership with the Institute for

Healthcare Improvement, Health Boards and Trusts, which will run until 2024.

Work with global improvement experts, Welsh Government and colleagues across NHS Wales.

Main duties of the job

You'll be joining an ambitious team, comprising some of the most qualified, experienced Improvement professionals in health and social care in Wales. As part of our new direction, we want to strengthen our team by recruiting new team members from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills, personalities and experiences - considering candidates from both an NHS background as well as other sectors.

The Successful applicant will be allocated to the South East regional team within Programmes, but with ongoing opportunities to matrix work with other Improvement Cymru teams and projects. The post has national responsibilities and the ability to travel across Wales, including overnight stays, will be necessary for all postholders.

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a management role. Evidence of continued professional development Completed/previously undertaken improvement training

Desirable

Improvement certification (Improvement in Practice, IHI, Lean etc.) Project management qualification Training delivery qualification Coaching qualification, such as ILM

Experience

Essential

Engagement with multi-professional groups and staff at all levels Experience of coaching individuals or teams Presentation and facilitation experience with multi-professional groups Experience of successfully implementing project driven improvements with evidence of learning using improvement science methodologies

Skills

Essential

Ability to motivate others to encourage collaborative working Ability to collaborate with people in other disciplines and form strong stakeholder relationships to improve services Ability to gather, analyse and present complex data to influence decision making to improve services Ability to find solutions in complex situations that are acceptable to a number of stakeholders Ability to apply improvement skills and knowledge

Desirable

Demonstrate an ability to act as an expert reference point on change management and continuous improvement training issues. Ability to train multi-disciplinary groups including clinical staff in continuous improvement methodologies.
