Job summary

Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists are employed on one year fixed term training contract that is high pressured, involving a clinical placement where you will manage a high volume caseload of high intensity service users alongside undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGDip CBT) where you will be required to meet frequent academic deadlines. The training post includes two days per week at University and three days of supervised clinical practice. Trainees are expected to progress to working with a high degree of autonomy, with high volume caseloads; this may include video consultation and face-to-face clinical work. The role is well supported with weekly clinical and monthly management supervision from qualified clinicians. In addition to clinical contact, the role will include data collection, data management, analysis and note keeping.

This is a 12 month training contract, upon successful completion of the course a permanent post will be available

Your base will be Severn Fields Health Village (Shrewsbury), however you will be required to travel within the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin locality.

Main duties of the job

The Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies service is a busy caring team consisting of Admin staff, PWPs, CBT Practitioners & Counsellors. We serve the people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin which has exciting, diverse & growing modern towns, surrounded by stunning Shropshire countryside.

You will be taking on a training role within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Talking Therapies. The post-holder will work within the NHS Talking Therapies service providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post holder will work in the service for 3 days of the week bringing their already well developed skills to practice at the same time as using the newly developed skills from the training programme which they will attend for the other 2 days.

Qualifications

Essential

A recorded/registered/accredited qualification in one of the following - Nursing (RNM / RNLD), Social Work, Art Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Psychotherapeutic Counselling OR A recorded / registered Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical / Counselling Psychology OR A registered / recorded qualification in Educational Psychology, Health Psychology or Forensic Psychology OR A recorded / registered qualification in Medicine (Psychiatrist to General Practitioner, MBChB or MBBS) OR Be able to meet the BABCP Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes KSA Portfolio criteria for entry to the course, in addition to + All applicants must follow the minimum two years after the award of the first training.
