Robert Half Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be partnering with a leading specialist distributor based in Theale, Reading.

The company has been at the forefront of cutting-edge technology Including; Broadband, VoIP and a host of other networking solutions.

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support financial operations with a strong focus on managing the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Cashbook, and supporting with financial reporting. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Ledger & Credit Control

  • Manage credit control, Receivables, generation of statements and debtor letters.
  • Maintain accurate customer records.
  • Produce aged debtor reports and bad debt reports.
  • Handle intercompany recharges and generate manual invoices as needed.

Purchase Ledger Support

  • Post purchase invoices and reconcile against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Maintain Goods Received/Returned Notes and conduct regular payment runs.
  • Reconcile supplier statements for accurate financial tracking.

Nominal Ledger & Reporting

  • Reconcile VAT charges and maintain company credit card transactions and expenses.
  • Oversee sales, nominal, and fixed asset reports, as well as stock adjustment journals.
  • Support with Financial performance reports, margin analysis, and stock reconciliations.

Cashbook Management

  • Post daily BACS, cheque, EBP, and credit card receipts, manage petty cash, PayPal, and bank transactions.
  • Oversee credit card receipts and facilitate transfers via Sagepay.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Minimum of AAT Level 2 or equivalent in accountancy.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience;
  • Systems Skills: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Sage 200 is a plus.
  • Attributes: Numerically adept, problem solver, self-motivated, and commercially aware.
  • Soft Skills: Presentable, articulate, and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
