Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals Full time

Job overview

This post involves working within experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary teams of surgical, medical, therapy and nursing colleagues. Psychology is well established and highly valued by the cleft and craniofacial teams and the post holder will offer assessment and intervention to children, young people and some adults who have a visible difference or difficulties with the functional consequences of their condition. The role includes developmental and some neuropsychological assessment; work with parents, families and others from the extended professional network is an integral part of the service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading the committed team of psychologists working into these services and contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a psychologically-informed multi-disciplinary service. The units have a strong national and international profile, with opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and services to deepen our understanding of cleft and craniofacial conditions and how best to promote psychological adjustment of the patient and their family.

Applicants will hold a post graduate doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology and demonstrate experience in working within clinical health, especially with children, together with a strong academic record, ability and enthusiasm to undertake service related research and audit. Supervision, leadership skills and experience are essential to this role.

Working for our organisation

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research. The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community.

We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence.

These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family.
