Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a enthusiastic surgical nurse to join the Breast clinic team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital as a Charge nurse/ Sister for a 12 month secondment. The role involves coordination of clinics, managing junior members of the team and running nurse led services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage, maintain and support effectively Outpatients Departments in St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The Oncology Clinic is open on a Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00.

The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of the clinical area and for the professional development of any junior staff; the sister / Charge Nurse will provide advice and support to the whole team involved in caring for patients.

The post holder will be expected to set and maintain high standards of care and be accountable for auditing and monitoring those standards.

The post holder will work with large oncology team such as Breast, Gynaecology, Haematology teams.

The post holder will promote safe competent and evidence based practice in line with national objectives and within clinical governance framework.

Experience in an outpatient setting Experience in the management of the acutely unwell patient Post registration experience including recent experience within the outpatient department Experience in managing complex wounds
