Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 midwife to work as a Close Relative Marriage Midwife. This is a new role and will work with specific communities to enhance identification, empowered decision making and appropriate referral to genomic services. The role will support families at increased genetic risk associated with close relative marriage. The midwife will also ensure maternity staff are supported to undertake training on genetic literacy. The midwife will work closely with genetic/genomic services.

Although this position is a 3 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 3 months.

Clinician with current NMC midwifery registration Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes Certificates/portfolio of evidence Ongoing personal/professional development

Evidence of genetic training/ experience in field of genetics
