Job summary

Ward C708 is situated in the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI), a purpose-built cardiac centre valued at £61 million and renowned for its exceptional cardiac care. Treating over 4000 patients annually for a spectrum of cardiac issues. The 23 bedded ward caters for patients both pre and post cardiac surgery, supporting both emergency and elective patient pathways.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual, for a Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse role. The successful applicant must have extensive experience in ward leadership, in conjunction with a strong background of clinical provide high-quality care for a diverse group of patients from across the region. We are a tertiary referral centre for many specialities such as; complex aortic surgery and patients with adult congenital heart disease.

Main duties of the job

"You will lead the team acting as a clinical expert, role model and problem solver."As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be responsible for the day-to-day ward operation, supporting junior staff, co-ordinating staffing and bed requirements of the shift whilst liaising with many members of the MDT, and allied services.

The ward has a large multi-disciplinary team including the Surgical team, Anaesthetists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Allied Health Professionals, who all play their role in providing excellent patient care. We have a shared culture of inclusivity within our ward.

Supported by the matron and employee services, youwill supervise a team of staff to manage absence, appraisals, development and performance.As a ward we are committed to development and opportunities for all of our staff which is supported by our innovative practice education team.
