The General Intensive Care Unit at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its Critical Care services and is looking for dedicated professionals to fill the role of Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly constructed facility, enhancing our critical care capabilities. Our unit is responsible for the Bristol ECMO service, collaborating with regional partners to provide exceptional care.
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in intensive care nursing and a robust clinical background. You will join our team of Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurses, overseeing the daily operations of the General Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit. Our focus is on delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population with various medical needs, including emergencies and planned procedures.
Main Responsibilities
As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will:
- Lead the nursing team, serving as a clinical expert and mentor.
- Manage the daily operations of the unit, ensuring adequate staffing and bed management.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical professionals and allied health services, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Support junior staff through guidance and supervision, promoting a culture of inclusivity and professional development.
- Participate in the management of staff performance, appraisals, and development opportunities.
- Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, to ensure continuous senior support for our 24/7 service.

Qualifications and Skills Required
