The Role


Location: Barrhead (Requirement to be out on site)

Salary: up to £95,000 (DOE) + car allowance of £6,500.

Role & Responsibilities


As the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for overseeing the quantity surveying function and ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects. Your primary focus will be on managing costs, commercial aspects, and stakeholder relationships.


Key responsibilities include:

1. Project Management: Oversee the quantity surveying aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to AC Whyte Construction's high standards.

2. Cost Control: Implement and maintain effective cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle, monitoring and adjusting budgets as necessary.

3. Commercial Management: Manage the commercial aspects of construction projects, including procurement, subcontractors, valuations, and final accounts.

4. Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring open communication and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

5. Leadership and Team Management: Lead and motivate the quantity surveying team, providing guidance, support, and promoting professional development.

6. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance processes and procedures within the quantity surveying function, driving continuous improvement and efficiency.

7. Contractual Compliance: Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle, managing risks and implementing mitigation measures

Qualifications and Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

1. Managing Quantity Surveyor Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Managing Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering projects.

2. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and leading a quantity surveying team, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.

3. Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial acumen and experience in managing costs, budgets, and contractual obligations.

4. Stakeholder Management Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

5. Relevant Qualifications: A degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
