JOB- Director of Engineering

LOCATION- Cambridge

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £90,000 to £120,000 per annum (plus benefits)


Premier Engineering is recruiting for an experienced Engineering Director to lead the engineering function of a well-established manufacturing company with around 100 staff. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving innovation, overseeing engineering projects, and ensuring the company remains at the forefront of its industry.


The Engineering Director will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Extensive experience in engineering leadership roles within the manufacturing sector
  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong technical expertise in design, production, and process improvement
  • Proven track record of managing engineering teams and large-scale projects
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications


The Engineering Director role will involve:

  • Leading and managing the engineering department, including design, production, and R&D teams
  • Developing and implementing engineering strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Overseeing the delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements
  • Driving innovation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the business
  • Collaborating with other departments, including operations and sales, to achieve company goals
  • Managing resources, budgets, and team development to ensure optimal performance
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and technologies to maintain a competitive edge
  • Representing the company in client and stakeholder meetings, providing technical expertise
