Licensing & Brand Partnerships Lead - Maternity Cover

We are currently looking for a Licensing & Brand Partnerships Lead (fixed term contract 12-months) to join our Commercial Development & Product Partnership team, based in London.


This position will primarily focus on managing the Brand Licensing & Partnership programme, alongside providing supervision to your small team. The focus will be to build sustainable profit growth from existing and new licenses and extend brand reach internationally.


Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Manage and build relationships with License partners to maximise opportunities related to product development, commercial potential, and international expansion.
  • Support the Partnerships and Licensing Director in developing a POV on the changing partnership and branding landscape.
  • Plan and review departmental budget including reforecasts for the Brand Licensing division working closely with the Finance Manager.

Commercial & Business Development

  • Lead negotiations on key commercial terms with new license partners alongside renewals with existing partners. Work closely with Legal team to finalise contract agreements.
  • Seek new leads and build a pipeline of potential brand partners that will complement and support the growth of the programme.
  • Support and provide guidance to the Brand & Licensing Partnerships team to build proposals, presentations and pitch decks for new partners or target categories.
  • Work closely with Liberty Design team to ensure they are inspired to develop and design products with partners that are creatively designed and suited to the partner’s target market.

Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with new and existing brand partners, ensuring a joined-up approach towards building value and long-term cooperation.
  • Develop network across the business to identify wider partnership opportunities for example, working with colleagues in Marketing, Retail and Liberty Fabrics.
  • Lead by example, inspiring other colleagues at all levels to recognise and activate appropriate partnership activities in line with Liberty’s overarching strategy, promoting a culture of commerciality, respect for the brand and proactive development of new opportunities.

Brand & Marketing

  • Ensure licensed partnerships are successfully promoted through partner’s channels and where relevant through Liberty’s direct media channels also. Find effective ways to support partner and leverage the Liberty brand.
  • Using market insights to identify and evaluate commercial brand partnership opportunities across all merchandise categories and maximising opportunities for cross fertilisation of audiences for shopping and experiences online and offline taking a 360 approach.
  • Oversee the Licensing & Partnership team on the day-to-day marketing approvals for brand partnerships which will be managed in conjunction with the Brand Marketing team.


Role specific competencies

  • Management experience: providing line management and guidance to Licensing and Partnership team (consists of 2 team members).
  • Enterprise and commercial acumen: Ability to develop new ideas and put in place a tailored plan to see these ideas through to delivery.
  • Relationship Management: Strong communicator who can work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels (including MD and CEO), to ensure buy-in, resolve business conflicts as they occur and to persuasively influence complex and sensitive scenarios.
  • Highly numerical and detail conscious, able to evaluate the financial and brand value of new opportunities and present robust and convincing business cases.


Personal Qualities and Experience

  • Solid experience in a Licensing and Product Partnership environment
  • Experience of managing a departmental budget or a category budget
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of fashion, arts & culture
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Excellent business acumen and organisational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal direction
  • Desire and ability to work within an international environment
