Job Overview:


We are seeking an organised and proactive Membership Officer to join our dynamic team. The Membership Officer will play a vital role in managing our membership base, ensuring high levels of member engagement, satisfaction, and retention. You will be responsible for processing membership applications, responding to member enquiries, and supporting the development and delivery of membership services. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality customer service.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Membership Administration:
  • Process new membership applications, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Maintain and update the membership database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Handle membership queries, providing timely and professional responses via telephone, email, and in person.
  • Prepare and send membership invoices and renewal reminders.
  1. Member Engagement and Retention:
  • Support initiatives to engage both current and prospective members.
  • Assist in organising member events, networking opportunities, and other activities.
  • Monitor member satisfaction and gather feedback to continuously improve membership services.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies to ensure high renewal rates.
  1. Communication and Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with members, acting as the first point of contact for all membership-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent and relevant communication with members.
  • Contribute content to membership newsletters, updates, and promotional materials.
  1. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Monitor membership trends and provide regular reports to management.
  • Analyse membership data to identify opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in budget management for membership initiatives and events.
  1. Operational Support:
  • Support the Membership Manager in delivering membership projects and campaigns.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of member events, including logistics, registration, and follow-up.
  • Handle ad hoc tasks related to membership operations as required.


Person Specification:


Essential:

  • Previous experience in a membership role or a customer service/administrative role in a similar environment.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain databases with high levels of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and membership management software/CRM systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a membership organisation, charity, or professional association.
  • Knowledge of membership marketing strategies and best practices.
  • Event management experience.
  • Familiarity with London’s business, professional, or community networks.
