About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Account Director to join our rapidly expanding Consumer PR Team. The role is fast paced and varied and would suit an individual who is ambitious and looking for an exciting challenge.

For this role, we are looking for an individual who wants to work with a diverse and exciting portfolio of clients. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide mix of consumer briefs, with lifestyle clients including health, travel and food and drink.

The successful candidate will not only manage several existing accounts but to be a crucial player in our new business efforts as we continue to grow the team. The successful candidate will work across a range of clients. This position will offer lots of room for growth and development.

We are looking for someone with exceptional and proven experience with lifestyle clients, at least 6 years plus at running campaigns and accounts at a senior level and bringing in new business, someone who can hit the ground running – leading accounts, managing a team and juniors, and contributing to new business.

As the PR Account Director at Spider, you will be the main senior contact for clients on a day-to-day basis, overseeing and managing all campaigns from creative brief to implementation and delivery. You will report directly into one of the Spider Associate Directors or Directors.

You will be responsible for ensuring the campaign objectives are delivered and that service level agreements are met and must be able to balance commercial and strategic thinking with a creative nature, able to come up with ideas that will get national coverage for a range of clients.

The PR Account Director will direct and lead PR projects, manage a team and be able to work hand in hand with the digital team to ensure campaigns are fully integrated. You will be adept at relationship building, be it with media or key industry spokespeople. As senior member of the business you will be instrumental in new business, from outreach to writing pitches and presenting and at growing existing accounts.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Managing a portfolio of accounts within the consumer sphere on a day-to-day basis – this includes being a key contact for clients and managing your Spider team
  • Overseeing media strategy and account development – including growing existing accounts
  • Be a senior point of contact for media relationships, leveraging developed relationships to secure client coverage and managing contacts with key commentators, industry spokespeople and sector influencers
  • Achieving exceptional outcomes for current clients and managing an extended portfolio ensuring consistency of service is delivered in line with company policy
  • Offering crisis management and counsel to clients and extending networking opportunities
  • Overseeing provision of account resources
  • Providing support for agency growth and development of new business pipeline
  • Championing the agency values and brand
  • Formulating business strategy in conjunction with other directors
  • Reporting into the senior Spider team, and providing high level data analysis
  • Providing career counsel, professional development support, monitoring and performance reviews for junior members of the team
  • Identifying training needs where required

  • Ability to analyse complex data and interpret it for a range of audiences
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation and delegation skills
  • Business acumen with the ability to communicate across departments and represent PR at a senior level within the business
