Who You Are

You must possess a degree in Social Work or equivalent with considerable experience in working with children and adults, especially in crisis situations. You should have strong knowledge of relevant legislation and be adept at both oral and written communication. Skills in assessment, crisis intervention, and negotiation are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Personal attributes include flexibility, a non-judgemental and caring attitude, and a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy. A valid driving license and access to a reliable car are required. Preferred qualifications include an A.M.H.P qualification and a P.Q. Certificate in Child Care.

What the Job Involves

This role involves providing high-quality emergency social work services out of hours to vulnerable children, young people, and adults. You will offer immediate access to social work services, assess and take action during emergencies, and work alongside other professionals in various sectors. Responsibilities include attending meetings, completing necessary administrative tasks, and providing advice outside normal working hours. You will also engage in team developments and ensure health and safety matters are addressed. Key tasks involve statutory duties to protect vulnerable adults and children, conducting assessments, providing emergency interventions, and ensuring the safety and welfare of service users. You will work closely with other emergency services, ensuring a prompt response to urgent needs.
