Position Insights & Objectives
Responsible for maintaining can forming tooling and the toolroom equipment. Grinding and / or preparation of punches, rings and cupper tooling. Main tasks are outlined below: -
• Ensure a smooth production process by preparing the needed tools for the front end
• Prioritise required rework tooling to daily needs of production
• Identify and report in a timely manner possible tooling shortages / risks in line with the production schedule.
• Measurement and control of tooling
• Inspecting/measuring tooling
• Making Tool packs / Size Change Tooling.
• Control of the ring grinding process
• Grinder maintenance / Upkeep
• Sort finished tooling into storage cabinets
• Gather and analyse data relatied to tooling/oil usage and plant KPIs
• Rebuild and maintain unit spares
• Height change support.
• Control of Necker tooling in toolroom and sattelite stores
• Maintain housekeeping standard of tool room.
• Plant maintenance as required
Professional Experience and Personal Attributes
• Computer literacy and the ability to generate reports and manage via computerised data
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practices
• A manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process
• The ability and willingness to assist with breakdowns
• Can demonstrate the ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.
• A team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work alone under their own initiative.
• The ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise their own workload.
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
• Experience of inspecting/measuring tooling.
• Possess an enthusiastic and proactive, goal orientated approach
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending training courses as and when required
• Flexibility or willingness to travel
Education & Location
Qualifications - Apprenticeship in an Engineering/Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience
