Job summary – What to expect:


We are currently looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our HR team in Hamble. (Southampton).


This role will work closely with the Operational leaders across UK Manufacturing, as well as the Leaders and teams that they are responsible for.


Together with their HR team colleagues, the postholder will co-design, develop and deliver the Human Resource programmes and strategy for Operations as well as the business units supported. They will act as a trusted advisor to the leaders of the business units and functions that they are aligned to plus their management teams by providing advice, guidance and positive challenge to create the right culture for our company's continued growth.


About you:


Essential Functions & Accountabilities:


In close partnership with the business unit leaders and their management teams, the Senior HR Business Partner will –

  • Contribute to delivering the UK Manufacturing mid- and long-term strategic ambitions by ensuring that the local HR strategies are directly aligned with the overall business strategies (through iterative people and organization planning, People Plans).
  • Provide pragmatic, expert advice and support to business leaders and managers on the full range of employment related matters, consulting or working in conjunction with other HR colleagues and external consultants/advisors as necessary.
  • Introduce and where appropriate adapt corporate HR policies and initiatives based upon best practice to ensure local effectiveness and legal compliance.
  • Use appropriate resourcing strategies and tools to ensure the effective attraction of high-quality candidates and participate in the selection of managers and other key roles.
  • Help drive employee engagement by assessing performance against the requirements of the business and facilitating action items to improve engagement levels.
  • Recommend and implement processes that aid the communication and dissemination of the Corporate vision and values.
  • Co-develop and implement the succession planning process (EDR – Employee Development Review) for the assigned business units and recommend appropriate development and coaching solutions.
  • Work with and coach managers to ensure effective resolution of employee relations issues and make recommendations to minimise the re-occurrence of such issues.
  • In conjunction with appropriate suppliers (internal or external) plus Global Talent Management & L&D ensure that appropriate employees are trained, coached and developed in line with the needs of the business.
  • Act as a confidential counselor or coach to members of the business management teams.
  • Drive culture initiatives including engagement survey action planning as well as launching our EVP and being an advocate for building an inclusive workplace.
  • Promote employee wellbeing (Wellness) so that employees remain productive and effective.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to analyse complex issues and data and recommend and implement practical solutions.

  • Demonstrable experience in the following areas: Organisation Design and Effectiveness, Organisation Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Relations and Change Management.


Experience and Education:


  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural, generalist HR role.
  • Previous experience gained supporting Manufacturing, Engineering or Science based teams is essential.
  • Experience gained in Global/US matrix managed businesses is highly desirable.
  • Deep Change Management and OD experience.
  • Ideally a Masters degree in a Business Management related subject. CIPD qualified is desirable.
