As an EDT Social Worker, you are equipped with a degree in Social Work or an equivalent qualification. Qualifications such as an A.M.H.P qualification or P.Q. Certificate in Child Care are highly desirable. You have substantial experience working with children and adults, especially in crisis settings. Your expertise includes in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, NHS Community Care Act 1990, and Mental Health Act 1983. You are an excellent communicator, proficient in IT, and skilled in handling assessments and crisis interventions. Flexibility, teamwork, a non-judgemental disposition, and a caring attitude are integral to your work ethic. You value continuous learning and are attuned to cultural issues and user involvement.

What the Job Involves

This role requires delivering emergency Social Work services of the highest quality to vulnerable individuals outside of regular working hours, following legislation and Council policies. You will be responsible for providing immediate access to Social Work services, investigating and assessing emergencies, collaborating with both statutory and voluntary professionals, and ensuring detailed administrative procedures. You will participate in meetings and court hearings, coordinate with district teams, and offer advice outside standard hours. The role includes involvement in supervision and appraisal processes, contributing to service development projects, and supporting team developments. As an EDT Social Worker, you will also perform statutory duties for urgent social care needs, liaise with other emergency services like health and police, and ensure the safety and well-being of service users pending further assessments.
