About the role


As we continue to scale our programmes and communities across the UK, we are seeking an exceptional Business Development Manager to drive our national commercialisation efforts and manage our diverse client base. This role will involve developing and selling our partnership offering, identifying and bringing new commercial partners on board, and account managing existing ones to ensure that commitments are met.


Our partner organisations range from high-growth tech startups to large corporates, professional services firms, and national government entities seeking to increase their profile across the UK. This role is highly varied and engaging.


Although the role involves commercial partnerships with a commission element, it is not a traditional 'sales' role. As a not-for-profit, our goal to build a sustainable cyber ecosystem and may do this by assisting companies and government bodies in achieving their objectives, whether that involves talent acquisition, networking opportunities, or enhancing brand presence nationwide.


While every day as our Business Development Manager will be different, here are some of the key responsibilities working closely with our team

  • Identifying and approaching future potential partners to meet the requirements of our individual projects and events.
  • Listening and consulting to identify partner needs which align with our audience.
  • Building relationships with our existing partners, and working closely with our Marketing, Community and Events teams to ensure that we’re on top of partner requirements
  • Organising and presenting at partner/ client meetings, Following up on meetings with proposals and queries
  • Where appropriate, identifying further opportunities to help and upsell services with partners
  • Solve ad-hoc partner queries


Essential experience :-

  • A proven track record of business development success
  • Experience of sales and account management, with a consultative solution, led approach
  • Proven ability to build and develop business relationships
  • Confidence to make cold approaches as well as ability to further develop warm relationships, at all levels
  • The ability to follow through and account manage post-sale
  • Experience and ability to work to targets and KPIs


Other pluses :-

  • A broad understanding of the digital marketing, publishing or events industry
  • Ideally a knowledge of how tech teams are structured, and the various job roles available
  • Experience with design software such as Canva
  • Experience of using a CRM such as Zoho, and sales software.
