**Role purpose**:
The role of the Supervisor (Select & Measure) is to assist the Production Manager (Finish and Despatch) in ensuring the safe and operational efficiency of day to day operations which guarantees optimum performance, achieving all relevant KPI’s, and fulfil customer demands whilst ensuring all company procedures and compliances (both internal and external) are fully met. The Supervisor will also work, in conjunction with the Production Manager (Finish and Despatch), on a variety of projects related to ongoing organisational improvements including, but not limited to, Health and Safety, Quality, Workplace Organisation, Environmental and Sustainability.
**Key accountabilities**:
- Embed H&S culture of zero tolerance ensuring the policy is fully understood, owned and implemented by every individual - ensuring machine operators have set up machines correctly and all pre-shift safety checks have been carried out and recorded
- Promote the use of TCards for near miss and hazard reporting
- ensuring appropriate feedback and recognition to operators.
- Implement the actions identified through internal and external audits (including health & safety and quality inspections) and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
- Manage all internal and external regulatory compliances and guidelines as set out by health & safety, quality and environmental requirements
- Ensure all prescribed quality checks are carried out by machine operators, to ensure product quality is not compromised
- Live and breathe workplace organisation ensuring the factory is always customer ready.
- Supervise to execute the production plan and recovery plans, communicating and highlighting any risk to OTIF to Production Manager at earliest opportunity
- Takes ownership of POD information recording monitoring and improving KPIs
- Create an open, honest, and empowering culture of communications between management and factory employees, always aligned to our core values.
- Deliver optimum results by creating a can-do attitude through motivating and encouraging employees
- The performance management of team leaders and operators required with the support of HR, e.g. absence management, lateness, conduct or capability, identifying training opportunities.
- Handling holiday / absence requests and identifying any labour shortages to the Production Manager
- Liaising with Maintenance Department to ensure plant and machinery is kept in full working order, ensuring job requests are logged on Maintain
- Recruitment and selection of staff when required with the support of HR and training.
**Experience Desired**
- Excellent supervisory skills - demonstrating practical leadership in people, product process and plant.
- Experience in a similar role - preferably in a manufacturing/industrial setting with a good understanding of operational metrics and drivers and the use of KPIs to manage an operation
- Experience of meeting and exceeding health and safety/environmental/ workplace organisation requirements
- Demonstrable supervisory and line management skills with a coaching style that gets the best out of people, focused on collaboration and continual improvement
- Commercial awareness and logistics skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Lean manufacturing skills in eliminating wastes for the process.
