**Job description**:
Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements (DSCOM) is a 1* Military Headquarters within the Joint Support 2* area of the Defence Support organisation. DSCOM is a joint organisation comprising a mix of military, civilian and contractor staff based mainly at MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol. The Grade 7 Strategic Planner is required to lead on the delivery of both strategic and operational planning analysis within Defence Supply Chain Operations and Movements (DSCOM) Plans pillar, supporting Defence decisions on Strategic Base Outload (SBO) planning, Contingent Operations support, and assessing planning assumptions and outputs for emergent and routine activity. The outputs should enable Evidence Based Decision Making (EBDM) by senior decision makers ensuring that Value for Money is considered, risks and consequences of options are understood, and the reasoning behind choices made can be recorded, and fed into strategic cycles.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to;
- Maintaining a wide understanding of Defence policy and strategy to ensure that all analysis and planning is developed with consideration of those factors. Using analysis and evidence to inform policy changes where appropriate, to influence decisions.
- Leading on DSCOM’s interaction into the Head Office’s Strategic Effects Cycle (SEC), and PJHQ’s Operational Effects Management Process (OEMP) which feeds the SEC. Drawing on the wider analysis and planning work to offer evidence and options into those forums.
- Supporting the development and delivery of Strategic Base Outload (SBO) plans and collaborate in the development of planning within DSCOM by working with the DSCOM Plans pillar.
- Providing analytical support to the development of Courses of Action (COAs) across the wide range of planning activity in DSCOM.
- Supporting the continued development and delivery of the DSCOM Planning and Execution Cycle (DPEC) process in order to support the Defence Activity Plan (DAP) including utilising data to drive changes and improvements to the Defence Supply chain.
- Presenting the outcome of analysis to senior stakeholders. Effectively communicating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively exploit and interpret movement and Support Chain data, from DPEC, DSCOM Stats Hub, and other sources, to enable positive management change.
- Enabling frequent time sensitive questions and issues to be analysed including input to senior decision briefs and MINSUBs when required.
