**The Role**
As a Dermatology Veterinary Care Assistant, you will work alongside Veterinary Clinicians & Veterinary Nurses to provide vital nursing care, ensuring the wellbeing of our patients within our multidisciplinary referral hospital.
In addition to carrying out essential daily tasks such as providing vital nursing care, ensuring the wellbeing of our patients within this multidisciplinary referral hospital and carrying out essential daily tasks such as; providing basic inpatient care, preparing consulting rooms and kennels, preparing patients for discharge, maintaining our hospitals high hygiene standards, assisting with management of stock, assisting with dermatology procedures, assisting Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses with patient restraint and dispensing of medication. The role involves working an average of 33 hours a week (negotiable), working 9.00- 18.00 Tuesday to Thursday and 10am-4pm on Fridays, with 1 in 6 working weekends within our wards area and 2 bank holidays a year in line with a rotating shift pattern. Flexibility is important.
**Applicant Requirements**
Previous experience in veterinary and/or animal care roles is ideal; an animal-related qualification such as an animal management course is highly desirable. Full training is provided, although you do need to be comfortable working within an environment that can be busy and challenging. Teamwork, attention to detail and working to high standards whilst working in a fast-paced environment is essential.
You will be a professional, committed person, who will be dedicated to the care and welfare of our patients. Your ability to work independently, use initiative and communicate well within a team is of great importance, as well as a hard-working and eager nature. Being caring and confident when approaching and handling small animals is vital.

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists, part of the IVC Evidensia, is a busy referral practice in the New Forest, Hampshire. Our facilities include onsite advanced imaging, dedicated ICU ward, in house and external laboratory and equipment for interventional radiological procedures.
