**Medicine Veterinary Care Assistant**
- Full time - 40 hours a week. Permanent, £11.48 per hour/ £23877.57 per annum._

**The Role**

As a Medicine Veterinary Care Assistant, you will work alongside Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and Student Veterinary Nurses to provide vital nursing care, ensuring the well-being of our patients within our multidisciplinary referral hospital. In addition to carrying out essential daily tasks such as providing basic inpatient care, restocking and maintaining our hospitals high hygiene standards, assisting Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses with patient restraint, run a variety of in-house laboratory tests, assist with maintaining our medicine equipment.

The role involves working a 40-hour week, working 9.00- 18.00 Monday to Friday. You would work within our ward area 1 in 6 weekends - with days of in the week in lieu and 2 bank holidays a year in line with a rotating shift pattern. Flexibility is important.

**Applicant Requirements**

Previous experience in veterinary and/or animal care roles is ideal; an animal-related qualification such as an animal management course is highly desirable. Full training is provided, although you do need to be comfortable working within an environment that can be busy and challenging. Teamwork, attention to detail and working to high standards whilst working in a fast-paced environment is essential.

You will be a professional, committed person, who will be dedicated to the care and welfare of our patients. Your ability to work independently, use initiative and communicate well within a team is of great importance, as well as a hard-working and eager nature. Being caring and confident when approaching and handling small animals is vital.

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists, part of IVC Evidensia, is a busy referral practice in the New Forest, Hampshire. Our facilities include onsite advanced imaging, dedicated ICU ward, in house and external laboratory and equipment for interventional radiological procedures.
