We are a compassionate organisation committed to providing exceptional residential childcare for young people between the ages 7 - 14 who display emotional difficulties and challenging behaviour. We are seeking dedicated and flexible people to join our team and work alongside our young people on a Part Time basis in an Ofsted rated Outstanding home.

As a part time employee you will be a core member of the team with contracted hours of 73.5 per month. Shifts are rostered in advance to suite individual needs and the needs of the home jointly.

We provide above statutory annual leave entitlement and the hourly rate of pay for sleeping hours.

This is a great opportunity for a previously experienced Childcare Practitioner who cannot commit to full time hours but has a genuine passion for Residential Childcare.

Essential;

- Ability to learn and develop new skills
- Have good written and communication skills
- Be organised and have the ability to work under supervision and unsupervised
- Have the ability to remain calm under pressure and in stressful environments
- Ability to engage effectively with children and young people
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to form good working relationships with colleagues and external professionals
- Work effectively in a team
- Computer literate
- Partake enthusiastically in activities with the young people
- A desire to strive for the best outcomes for the young people and the company
- Be willing to partake in any training as instructed by the home
- Be willing to achieve the necessary Level 4 Apprenticeship
- Hold a full UK manual driving license

Desirable;
- Previous experience working in a Residential Childcare Setting
- Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 including the Quality Standards

Main Purpose of the role
- To provide a safe, nurturing environment for the young people to flourish in and development emotionally and behaviourally.
- Work in line with Watermead Care’s values and principles and promote the young people to discover their own identity in this world, ensuring they build the self-esteem and resilience to allow them to reach their full potential.
- To actively engage the young people in activities in the community to allow them to develop the skills to positively engage with the wider community.
- To be positive role models for the young people and encourage them to make the right decisions and understanding mistakes must be made to be learnt from.
- To have the ability to effectively work within a team and as an individual, sharing best practices to create the best outcomes for the young people.
- To be compassionate, patient and resilient maintaining your own self-control, enabling the young people to feel safe in your care when in crisis.
- To understand that information you deal with is kept under the strictest confidentiality.
