Accounts Administrator / Bookkeeper (Part Time)
Ruddell Metals, a long-established and respected metals and recycling business based in Newtownards, is seeking to appoint an experienced Accounts Administrator / Bookkeeper to replace a long-serving colleague who is retiring. This is a key role within a small, dedicated team and will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of the finance function in a hands-on environment.
The incumbent currently works a Tuesday-Thursday. We would consider similar or other part time hours.
The Job:
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day financial administration, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll and reporting. Duties will include:
- Managing the full bookkeeping function using Sage Accounts
- Processing weekly and monthly payroll
- Maintaining accurate day books for the scrap metal operations
- Preparing all financial information for submission to the external accountant
- Managing VAT returns and other statutory submissions via the HMRC portal
- Reconciling bank accounts, supplier accounts and customer accounts
- Producing regular internal reports for the business owner
- General administrative duties to support the running of the office
The Person:
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts administration role
- Strong working knowledge of Sage Accounts
- Experience of the HMRC online portal (payroll, VAT, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
- Confidence working in a small business environment
