Business Development Manager
Energy is one of the defining industries of our time central to the global economy, the climate transition, and the future of technology.
At Nationwide Utilities, we sit right at that crossroads helping some of the UK and Europe's biggest energy users make smarter, greener, and more commercially sound decisions. With over two decades of industry heritage and the momentum of a high-growth scale-up, we're investing heavily in our next chapter: AI-powered tools, cutting-edge marketing, and strategic expansion across European markets. We're also training every member of our team to harness AI in their own workflow turning insight into action, faster and smarter. If you want to be at the heart of something big where what you sell genuinely matters this could be your moment.
About the Role
We're looking for a sharp, articulate, and commercially driven Business Development Manager to help convert high-value opportunities into long-term relationships—primarily across the UK and European energy markets.
This is a strategically important role, sitting at the centre of our client acquisition engine. It follows a structured process: warm leads and verified decision-maker data are generated by our lead generation and marketing teams, while sales support analysts take care of the commercial prep and background work. Your job? Own the client conversation, steer the deal, and close with confidence.
The successful candidate will be joining at an exciting inflection point: we're investing heavily in our digital marketing engine, deploying smart technologies (including in-house AI tools), and expanding across European markets.
You'll need to be credible at C-level, comfortable leading complex sales processes, and able to speak the language of high-energy-consuming clients—especially in sectors like data centres, logistics, and manufacturing.
Why This Role Matters
We're not in the business of chasing hundreds of leads. we focus on the right clients, at the right time, with the right offer. Whether it's simplifying procurement, structuring corporate PPAs, or delivering grid connection and generation solutions, we show up with insight and impact.
Our reputation is built on results and as a BDM, you'll be pivotal in how that story continues to unfold. You'll have the data, tools, and support you need to succeed, but your energy and judgement will make the difference.
What You'll Be Doing
- Taking warm leads, curated prospect data, and intelligence from marketing and converting them into new clients
- Leading sales engagements across our three value areas: Supply, Generation, and Connections
- Managing the sales cycle from introduction to close, with full marketing and sales support
- Collaborating with our Sales Support Analysts and Energy Analysts to shape proposals, pricing, and presentations
- Meeting senior decision-makers across the UK and Europe - on-site, in person, and virtually
- Sharing market intelligence and strategic insight with internal teams to drive ongoing improvements
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record in B2B sales, ideally in energy, infrastructure, consultancy, or another high-value services environment
- Confident communicator who builds rapport and credibility quickly, especially with C-level stakeholders
- Commercially astute, emotionally intelligent, and professionally presented
- Fluent in English; additional fluency in French, German, Spanish, Italian, or another major European language is a bonus
- Familiarity with CRM systems (we use HubSpot), sales reporting, and pipeline management
- Proactive, driven, and eager to be part of something with serious growth ambition
What You'll Get
- £35,000–£50,000 depending on experience
- Growth Share Scheme—share in the value you help create
- Relocation allowance or advance available for the right candidate
- Warm leads, verified data, and increasing inbound demand via marketing
- Direct access to energy analysts, sales support, and a collaborative leadership team
- Modern office in Kensington, regular team socials, and a strong, purpose-driven culture
- A chance to shape the next phase of a business that's scaling fast with serious investment in technology, marketing, and European expansion
Sound like the next move you've been looking for?
If you're commercially sharp, ready to lead on deals, and want to help shape the future of smart energy strategy - apply now.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £35,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Employee stock ownership plan
Application question(s):
- Imagine you're stepping into a role where you're backed by smart technology, warmed leads, and a highly capable support team what would you do in your first 60 days to make your mark and show commercial impact?
- We're entering a high-growth phase, using AI and strategic marketing to help businesses navigate one of the world's most important sectors energy. What excites you most about being part of that journey, and what do you think you bring to it?
Work Location: In person
