A little more about your role…
You will work with the Rating Team's Business Development Associate Director and the Commercial and Strategic Growth Director to continue to further develop the team's successful client-base, aligning with WSP GL Hearn's and WSP's overall goals and objectives.
Your role would cover the following areas of Business Development:
- To continue to maintain and grow the body of reputational clients currently within the WSP GL Hearn business, working with the Specialist Sector Valuers to identify opportunities and approach them to build relationships for both the 2023 and 2026 Rating Lists and beyond.
- To work with the team's Valuers to identify one-off and consequential opportunities and to gain instructions from suitable clients.
- To build relationships with the wider WSP business, working with the Commercial and Strategic Growth Director to identify and help to gain instructions from suitable clients in other divisions.
- To support the Business Development Associate Director and Commercial and Strategic Growth Director to build a healthy and growing pipeline of profitable work to the business.
Your role will cover the following activities:
Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with different teams, including those in the wider WSP business as well as the Rating team, to identify cross-selling opportunities and drive synergies to maximise business growth.
Market Analysis: To work with the Valuers to identify trends in the Rating List and potential clients, keeping abreast of changes in legislation, regulations, and industry developments that impact the Rating Team's business. Regularly report back to the Valuers as to progress made.
Marketing: To work with the Marketing Team to ensure that all marketing material is suitable and is kept up to date, having great attention to detail.
Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on business development activities, including pipeline, conversion rates, and revenue projections, providing regular updates to the Operations Board.
The Rating team at WSP GL Hearn is a highly skilled and specialised group dedicated to providing exceptional rating and valuation services to clients in the commercial real estate sector. With an in-depth understanding of the complex rating landscape, our team combines extensive industry knowledge with strategic insights to deliver accurate and insightful assessments.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Experience in business development, preferably within the commercial real estate industry. Previous experience in Rating is highly desirable.
- Network and Industry Knowledge: Extensive network and strong relationships within the real estate market, along with a deep understanding of the Rating landscape and associated sectors.
- Business Acumen: Proven track record in successfully identifying, pursuing, and closing business opportunities, with a strong commercial mindset and a strategic approach.
- Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse market trends, financial data, and industry insights to inform business strategies.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced and changing environment, with the ability to adapt to evolving business priorities and market conditions.
- Results-Oriented: Proven ability to meet and exceed business development targets, with a focus on driving revenue growth and delivering exceptional client service.
- IT Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems for pipeline management and reporting.
