Canterbury, United Kingdom Metro Bank Plc Full time

We have been awarded the "Most Loved Workplace"
At Metro Bank, people come first – our culture is all about bringing out the best in our colleagues, and making sure everyone feels valued, respected, seen and included.
We strongly believe in a diverse and inclusive workplace and to find the very best person for the job, we always look across a wide range of diverse communities.
What you will do: Our Business Development Directors for Commercial Lending use their commercial banking lending experience to build and maintain our commercial broker network, supporting the delivery of Metro Bank's brand and business model for Commercial Lending.
Depending on where you live, as one of our Commercial Lending Business Development Directors, you will work closely with our existing broker network and develop upon this network, across the East Midlands/East Anglia/Yorkshire (though we are very flexible on location).
Maintain the portfolio of commercial brokers who actively introduce opportunities to the Bank and deliver on new ways to help support business to evolve and grow.
As a Business Development Director you will work on opportunities with commercial brokers, to introduce to Metro Bank, working closely with our internal departments to progress the opportunity.
Generate customers through business development approaches such as introducer leads and networking events.
Support the relationship management of a portfolio of existing brokers and acquire new-to-bank brokers, to generate lending and switcher opportunity.
Foster Metro Bank's relationship with the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) and other finance broker associations to grow brand recognition amongst their broker members.
Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders in particular the Commercial Lending directors and also including Credit, Lending & Securities, and Lending Operations, Large Trading Business, Regional Commercial Banking Teams, Local Directors, and where appropriate, other Store colleagues, including LBMs.
Our Business Development Directors also Coach and support Local Directors, Local Business Managers, and Commercial Lending team colleagues, providing opportunities to learn and grow through planned sessions and informal interaction, as well as always role modelling great behaviours.
And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do.
We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns.
What you will need: A successful track record working with commercial brokers, with hands on experience across commercial lending, including experience of making effective lending decisions and an understanding of transactions that meet lending appetites.
Knowledge of banking products including Asset & Invoice Finance, Cash Management, and commercial lending.
An ability to maximise customer relationships, whilst being compliant, during customer interactions with sound knowledge of TCF (Treating Customers Fairly).
Excellent communication and customer/client relationship management with the ethos of providing exceptional broker and customer service.
A genuine interest and thirst for knowledge when it comes to businesses and the economy.
Demonstrate track record and experience of successfully managing risks across Credit, Operations and Financial Crime.
To understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders.
Our promise to you… We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts
We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions).
We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.
*This role will work closely with our commercial lending teams internally and broker networks externally.
This colleague can be based anywhere within the areas East Midlands right through to North Yorkshire.
Therefore, if this role sounds like a great fit for you, and you live anywhere within these areas or the near surrounds, then please do apply.
For us it's about the right candidate, so please do apply and we can discuss further with you
Diverse teams really are the best teams.
We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.
We also know that 'normal' office hours aren't always doable, and while we can't accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked.
So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren't sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl?
Please note that sometimes we may close a job earlier for applications if we are inundated with amazing candidates.. Good luck
