Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available for a caring person to join our well established Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services Team as a Porter.
The successful applicant will assist with the transport of patients with varying mobility's within the Treatment Centres and Wards at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.Applicants should hold a minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English & Maths or must be willing to sign up to complete an NVQ within the first 12 months of employment with the Trust.Experience of working within a public service or customer care environment along with holding a full clean licence is essential for this post.

Job description Job responsibilities Collectionand co-ordination of patients from treatment centres and wards to ensuregreater efficiency of operational resources.Inconjunction with the Operations Centre Team, ensures that patient movement isco-ordinated and that a dialogue exists between the locally based operationalstaff and operations centre to maximise the effective use of availableresources.Inliaison with the Operations Centre Team, ensure the effective deployment ofresources to ensure service provision to the Locality.Communicateswith staff on wards and departments at treatment centre/units, ensuring anyissues are dealt with in the appropriate manner or directed accordingly.Transportpatients within the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service contract,undertaking pre-planned and ad-hoc Patient Transport journeys.Effectivecare of patients, appropriate to their requirements using available equipment.Transferpatients using equipment and skills specific to individual needsAssistwith the transfer of patients within the Non-Emergency Patient TransportService contract, as a non-driver assisting with pre-planned and ad-hoc PatientTransfer journeys.
Ensurepatients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant trafficlegislation and driving with consideration for other road users.Adhereto corporate Instructions and Policies, Operational Instructions, ClinicalProtocols, Quality Procedures, other verbal or written instructions promulgatedby the Service currently or in the future.Thefull and accurate maintenance of all records and reports in line with Servicepolicies and procedures, including Accident reporting, Incident Reporting,Patient Transport Records both paper and electronic.Ensurevehicles and equipment meet agreed serviceability and that they are kept in astate of cleanliness with daily checks recorded and any defects recorded foraction to be taken.Undertakerequired training to maintain acceptable standards and quality of care.Maintain a current valid driving licence.Ensure effective communication with the Commercial ControlCentre, by telephone, in writing and by electronic means.Work within Contract Specific Quality Standards and ensurea high level of customer care.Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure patients are movedin a timely, safe and dignified manner.Performing other tasks in keeping withthe post as required by supervisory staff and Officers Person Specification Qualifications Essential Minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above to include English & Maths or be willing to work towards a level 2 qualification within the first 12 months of employment.
