Job summary NHS Gloucestershire ICB is looking torecruit a Named GP for Safeguarding Adults and Children to join the StrategicSafeguarding Team in the Clinical & Quality Directorate.The Named GP will participate inmulti-agency safeguarding initiatives and contribute medical GP expertise towork streams set by GSCP and GSAB where required.The Named GP will be employed byGloucestershire ICB for 4 sessions per week.
(16 Hours) The pay will be atnationally agreed rates for this role.
Main duties of the job This is a statutory all age functionto support NHS Gloucestershire ICB in delivering its statutory safeguardingduties.
It is also a system wide role, requiring the postholder to proactivelybuild relationships across the county with key partners, provide clinicalexpertise where necessary and take a strategic and professional lead on allaspects of Primary Care (GP) health service contributions for safeguardingadults and children.
The successful applicant will workclosely with the Designated Dr and Nurses for Safeguarding Children and Adultsand be part of a multi-disciplinary Strategic Safeguarding Team led by theAssociate Director Integrated Safeguarding.
The team are committed to improvingthe quality and safety of health services for vulnerable people of all ages.
The successful applicant will workclosely with Primary Care (GP), supporting all activities necessary to ensurethat Gloucestershire NHS Providers meet their safeguarding.
The postholder willalso provide advice and support for NHS Gloucestershire ICBs executive teamand commissioners to ensure that we are meeting our statutory duties.

The Named GP will also have developed safeguarding expertise through a range of other activities, including education, training and research.
The Named GP will have experience (current or previous) of working in relevant departments and professional specialties The Named GP will be able to demonstrate self-directed learning with evidence of the completion of individual tasks The Named GP will ensure attendance at recognised conferences/meetings / lectures / tutorials on safeguarding relevant topics to maintain compliance with mandatory Level 4 safeguarding training.
The Named GP will be a good communicator, proactively building good working relationships and will be able to provide information and advice to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on a range of business sensitive issues.
Person Specification Analytical Essential Able to critically analyse clinical evidence and information relevant to safeguarding.
Able to understand a broad range of complex information quickly and make decisions where opinions differ / no obvious solution.
Qualifications Essential Experienced qualified GP with current GMC registration.
Masters level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation, process and procedures to include Mental Capacity Act.
Previous Experience Essential Be currently working as a GP with experience practising in the field of safeguarding children /child protection and adult safeguarding .
Have proven negotiating and leadership skills.
Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands.
Needs to have a thorough understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and good working relationships both in terms of day-to-day working practices, but also in relation to management systems.
Desirable Experience of working as a Named Safeguarding lead in a GP practice.
Knowledge / Skills Essential Have substantial clinical professional training and experience relating to the care of babies/children and young people.
Thorough understanding of interagency processes surrounding all age safeguarding and the challenges these present to medical practitioners.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the legislation and national and local policy relating to safeguarding.
Knowledge of Local Safeguarding Partnerships and Boards and roles and responsibilities of members in improving outcomes for children and young people.
Hold a senior GP post with equivalent training and experience.
Training Essential Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development in line with the Intercollegiate Guidance for Safeguarding Children and Adults at Level 3.
Ability to develop and deliver safeguarding training, forums, supervision and education programmes to a range of professionals.
Communication Essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to listen to and engage with children and young people.
Presentation and teaching skills for a wide range of audiences.
