Position Summary:
The company has created a new permanent role for a Head of Finance. Reporting directly to the owners, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening the financial foundation of the business, ensuring robust financial management and reporting systems are in place to support current operations and future growth. This role involves leading a small UK finance team, overseeing financial operations across multiple jurisdictions, and participating in investor reporting. Additionally, the Head of Finance will support the company’s ambitious goals by helping assess future acquisitions. There is potential for the successful candidate to progress into the role of Finance Director within the next 12-24 months.

Key Responsibilities:

* Management Information (MI) & Reporting: Enhance the timeliness and accuracy of management accounting, cash flow reporting, and other financial MI to support sound decision-making. This may involve addressing initial anomalies and errors.

* Operational Involvement: Take a hands-on approach when necessary, including participating in monthly reconciliations, investigating errors, and improving reporting processes.

* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a small team of four accounting staff, while coordinating with local accounting resources in international locations. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

* International Accounting & Treasury: Oversee accounting and treasury functions across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate management of multiple currencies and compliance with local regulations.

* Financial Reporting & Governance: Oversee statutory reporting and ensure robust governance practices are in place. Ensure financial reporting aligns with the company’s growth trajectory.

* Financial Systems & Processes: Improve financial systems, with an upcoming system implementation on the horizon. Ensure systems are efficient, scalable, and prepared for future growth.

* Acquisitions & Investment: Assist the owners and company accountants in assessing acquisition opportunities, providing financial insights and due diligence support.

* Investor Reporting: Prepare financial reports and analyses for company investors, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with company strategy.

* Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis: Assist the owners in developing long-term financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives. Provide insights through in-depth financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning. Advise on the financial implications of business decisions, including potential risks and rewards of strategic initiatives.

* Risk Management & Compliance: Develop and implement strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, both domestically and internationally. This includes overseeing internal controls, insurance coverage, and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), or qualified by experience.

* Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or potentially Finance Director in a smaller company.

* Experience working in a service business with a turnover of £10-50 million, developing robust financial controls and contributing to business growth.

* Experience in a multifaceted business with overseas entities, handling multiple currencies.

* Previous involvement in systems implementation and improving financial processes.

* A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

* A genuine care for people and a desire to contribute positively to the company culture.

* Some exposure to company mergers, acquisitions, and/or investor reporting would be advantageous but is not required.

Compensation & Benefits:

* Salary: Circa £80,000 per annum.

* Bonus: The directors are open to discussing an annual bonus based on performance.
