Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf to join our team at TLTP Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the provision for pupils who are deaf or have hearing impairments across the school, ensuring that these pupils make excellent progress.

The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge and understanding of audiology, a minimum Level 1 signing qualification, and experience in teaching and supporting deaf and hearing impaired pupils in mainstream schools or similar. They will also have a Teacher of the Deaf Qualification and be able to work with other Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and trainee Teachers of the Deaf to ensure the quality of teaching and learning is of a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and modelling of lessons to support the development of deaf and hearing impaired pupils
  • Supporting teachers with planning, preparation, and assessments to ensure the quality of teaching and learning
  • Working with other Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and trainee Teachers of the Deaf to ensure the quality of teaching and learning
Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of audiology
  • Minimum Level 1 signing qualification
  • Experience in teaching and supporting deaf and hearing impaired pupils in mainstream schools or similar
  • Teacher of the Deaf Qualification

The school is easily accessible by public transport, with a 10-minute bus and walk away from the DLR and a 10-minute bus or walk away from the Elizabeth Line. The school has 650 pupils, with 28 of those students being deaf.
