We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team as a Child Protection Lead Practitioner. As a key member of our safeguarding team, you will play a critical role in protecting the welfare of children and young people in Gloucestershire.

Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals by assessing and managing risk, taking decisive actions to protect them from harm. You will also work closely with other agencies, such as health, education, and law enforcement, to coordinate comprehensive safeguarding plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people by assessing and managing risk and taking decisive actions to protect them from harm.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly and effectively to safeguarding concerns, providing immediate support and intervention to children and families in crisis.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with other agencies, such as health, education, and law enforcement, to coordinate comprehensive safeguarding plans.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead and support quality control and improvement activities within the team, ensuring high standards of safeguarding practice.
  • Case Management: Manage a protected caseload of children and young people with high-risk factors, ensuring that all interventions are timely, effective, and child-centred.
  • Supervision and Mentorship: Provide supervision and management oversight for the practice and development of Trainee Social Workers on placement and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) within the team.
  • Policy Implementation: Ensure adherence to statutory requirements and local safeguarding policies and procedures, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in child protection.

To succeed in this role:

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work and registration with SWE/HCPC
  • Experience at Senior Social Worker level
  • A full driving licence and willingness to drive
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
