Clinical Psychologist Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Clinical Psychologist Assistant within the Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMH) of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

About the JobThis post holder will work under the supervision of Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists, contributing to the psychological work within the OPMH team and Memory Assessment Service. Responsibilities include assessment, formulation, intervention, and evaluation. The successful candidate will also contribute to service evaluations, audits, and development as directed by their Team Manager and Clinical Supervisor.
Main Duties
- Assist in designing and implementing service development projects within the service as required.
- Undertake data collection, analysis, and report production using IT and statistical programmes.
- Support the formulation and delivery of care plans involving planned psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist.
- Assist Clinical Psychologists in delivering staff training and support, facilitating the acquisition of psychological skills.
- Effectively communicate psychological information with other professions and agencies.
- Utilize clinical supervision to reflect on, plan, and evaluate clinical work.
- Prioritize workload to achieve agreed goals and review progress with the Clinical Psychologist.
- Travel to different locations across Somerset as required.
Requirements
- A first degree in psychology (first or upper second).
- Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the BPS.
- Experience of working in community settings.
- Demonstrable experience of working directly with vulnerable client groups, including those with mental health problems.
- Ability to recognize and manage challenging situations professionally.
- Evidence of effective communication and adaptability.
